Bluegrass

The metallic cowboy, the guitar playing, Maraj pilot with the southern USA accent is one of the more memorable characters in the Silverhawk line.

[Maraj.
The Maraj space ship holds five Silverhawks action figures. Bird like projectile missiles can be fired from each wing, and the Hot-seat shoots away to become a sleek minicycle]

Together with Quicksilver, Steelwill, Steelheart and Copper Kid, Bluegrass was one of the original five Silverhawks.

[Bluegrass MOC]

Bluegrass is the only one of the original five Silverhawks not to have a metallic silver lined cape / wing.  Instead he comes with a hat that has a hole on top, presumably to allow his hair style - a trojan wannabe lookalike - to fit into the hat.  His action feature is still activated by pressing his legs together, which launches Side Man from his back.  This is a much cooler feature than the pop-up arms of the other four original Silverhawks.

[Bluegrass]     [Side Man]

And what exactly is Side Man?  Well, Side Man is an action bird that transforms from bird mode to guitar mode.  Now, not even Transformers had a transforming guitar!  Push the head in and the wings pop up.  Pull the head out and the wings hide under the body of the guitar.  OK, so, this may not give Transformers a run for their money after all.  Side Man also comes with a strap - non-removable - to allow Bluegrass to carry it on his shoulders.  This strap gets in the way of Side Man the weapon bird.  Someone should have made it removable.

[Bluegrass Card Back]

All in all, not one of the best figures in the line, yet not one of the worse as well.  The metallic light blue is a rather cool shade and Side Man forms a rather interesting projectile, not to mention being a rather interesting toy design feature.  This is perhaps, the coolest figure in the Silverhawks line.
