[BraveStarr Logo]

Filmation and Mattel worked hand-in-hand with He-Man.  One of the fruits of this was that Mattel made figures of a cartoon Filmation developed - BraveStarr.  I'm not going to mention too much about the cartoon, but there are screen shots below showing the characters that never got made into toys.

[Judge JB with Justice Hammer][Shaman]

Judge JB and her hammer of justice and the Shaman who gives Bravestarr his powers are both shown above.

[Cactus Head with Tex Hex][Lesser known Bandits][Stampede]

Cactus Head, some more villains flying and Stampede, the force that created Tex Hex, fight on the side of the bandits and outlaws.  Stampede is a hologram gone wrong apparently - well, that's not a reassuring thing.

[30/30 face shot][30/30 standing]

So, I guess someone at Filmation probaby had a sunstroke in Texas or something to come up with these ideas.  The cartoons were average, the toys were mediocre and expensive and demand for this line well... just wasn't there.

[BraveStarr Card Graphic]

The hero in this case was BraveStarr, someone with native American roots who's also the sherrif.  His talking steed, Thirty Thirty can transform from a 4 legged beast of burden to a 2 legged walking cowboy.

[Handle Bar Card Graphic]

He was assisted by the Shaman, Deputy Fuzz and Handle Bar.  Handle Bar was the bartender in New Texas, the town where BraveStarr and all the good guys were based.

[Tex Hex Card Graphic]

The main antagonist was Tex Hex, a weird old man empowered by Stampede, and somehow aged to a bag of skin and bones.

[Sandstorm Card Graphic]

He had a crew of bad guys including his right hand man, Sandstorm, who could blow gale force winds with his mout to create dust-storms and spray sleeping mists as well.

[Skullwalker Card Graphic]

BraveStarr had 30/30, Tex Hex had Skull Walker - a two legged vehicle that can "walk" on the ground or transform into a jet.

[Box Back painting]

There were other toys as well in the first series, including Deputy Fuzz and Outlaw Scuzz.

[BraveStarr Stops Tex Hex Cold] [Break Out from Fort Kerium Jail] [Ill Wind Blows in New Texas] [Tex Hex cuts off Water Supply]

The toys came with "Newspapers" with little stories and if you got all 4 of them, you can put the centerfolds together to create a huge poster.

[Wanted Skull Walker][Wanted Scuzz][Wanted Thunderstick][Wanted Tex Hex][Wanted Sandstorm]

BraveStarr was owned by Filmation and the toys was made by Mattel.  A good fan site to visiit is Bravestarr.net.
